A 52-year-old male Sergeant from the Northern District has been stood down, having been charged with one count of assault with indecent intent.
The offence is alleged to have been committed in Launceston in July 2023. The officer was not on duty at the time.
He is due to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on 20 May 2024.
It is not appropriate to make any further comment given the matter is now before the court.
