Police Officer from South West district charged

A 32-year-old male Senior Constable from the South West District has been charged with Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm in relation to an incident which occurred on Tuesday 14 April 2020 while he was on duty.

It will be alleged the police officer assaulted a 28-year-old man at Bunbury Hospital. The man had been involved in a traffic crash just before midnight on Monday 13 April 2020 and had been required to accompany police to undergo a breath test. The man was first taken to Bunbury Health Campus for treatment to minor hand injuries he had received in the crash, when the alleged incident occurred.

The male Senior Constable has been charged with Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm and is due to appear in the Bunbury Magistrates Court today, Thursday 6 August 2020.

The officer has been stood aside from operational duty.
