Police probe sudden death in Bribie Island

A 23-year-old man has died following an incident that occurred on Bribie Island on Saturday, December 2.

Emergency services were called to a remote campground at 2pm following reports a man had fallen into a large hole and become trapped in the sand.

He was airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries this afternoon, December 7.

Detectives from Caboolture Criminal Investigation Branch continue to make further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident and believe there may be numerous people who were present and are yet to speak with police.

Officers are appealing to those people, as well as anyone who may have dash-camera footage from the northern end of Bribie Island on Saturday to come forward.

A report is being prepared for the coroner.
