Police and emergency services are responding to an incident at Bakers Beach in northern Tasmania where a man fell overboard after an oyster barge hit a sandbar this morning.
Authorities were notified of the incident about 9.30am following a report of a man falling overboard, temporarily being trapped between the sandbar and the barge.
The man was quickly retrieved by other people on board the barge and was provided medical assistance at the scene before being transported to the Launceston General Hospital with non life threatening injuries.
The man was part of a group of people returning from a tour of the oyster farm when the incident occurred.
WorkSafe Tasmania and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority have been notified of the incident.
