Police responding to fatal traffic crash at Alligator Creek

A man has died, and a woman is fighting for life after a three-vehicle traffic crash at Alligator Creek, south of Townsville this afternoon.

Around 2.10pm, police and emergency services responded to the Bruce Highway at the intersection with Allendale Road, following reports a truck and two vehicles had collided.

The driver of a silver sedan, a 62-year-old man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The passenger, a 66-year-old woman, was transported to Townsville Hospital in a critical condition and has undergone surgery.

Four people, a man and a woman in their 50s and a male and female, both teenagers from the second vehicle were transported to Townsville hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and have since been released from hospital.

The male truck driver and sole occupant was not injured.

Investigations continue.
