Police responding to fatal traffic crash at Chermside

A 32-year-old man has died following a traffic crash at Chermside yesterday.

Just before 8:30pm, emergency services were called to a multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of Gympie and Rode roads.

Initial investigations indicate that a white Toyota Corolla was driving in an easterly direction along Rode Road when it travelled through a red light and collided with a Holden Barina and Mitsubishi Pajero.

The Toyota Corolla flipped several times before coming to rest near a bus stop.

Emergency services provided first aid to the driver and sole occupant of the Toyota Corolla, however the man died a short time later.

A 57-year-old man, who was driving the Mitsubishi Pajero, was also transported to hospital in a critical condition.

Occupants of the other vehicles were treated for minor injuries.

Officers from the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing investigations and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, or has dashcam footage, to come forward.
