The Forensic Crash Unit are investigating following a fatal two-vehicle traffic crash at Kia Ora this morning, 22 August.
Initial investigations indicate about 10.45am, a silver Hyundai Getz was travelling east along Tin Can Bay Road when it collided with a white Toyota Landcruiser towing a caravan travelling in the opposite direction.
Tin Can Bay Road, between Priddy Road and Gravel Forestry Road, was closed for a number of hours, however has since reopened.
The driver and sole occupant of the Hyundai, a 32-year-old Southside man was declared deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota, an 81-year-old man and sole passenger, an 82-year-old woman were both airlifted to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the crash or have dashcam vision to come forward.
Investigations are ongoing.
