Police responding to fatal traffic crash at Merrimac 26 August

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating following a fatal single-vehicle traffic crash at Merrimac this morning, August 26.

Initial investigations indicate around 2:10am, a Nissan Navara utility was travelling along Gooding Drive before it collided with an unoccupied, parked truck.

The driver of the Nissan, a 17-year-old Eagleby boy, was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital, however is not believed to have sustained serious injuries.

The single passenger of the vehicle, a 17-year-old Tallai boy, was declared deceased at the scene.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash and are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or have relevant dashcam/CCTV vision, to come forward.
