Police responding to serious traffic crash at Hay Point

A 31-year-old man has suffered critical injuries following a two-vehicle crash at Hay Point south of Mackay yesterday afternoon (June 5).

Preliminary information indicates a Holden Rodeo and Mitsubishi Triton were travelling in opposite directions along Hay Point Road when they collided at approximately 5.45pm.

The 31-year-old Balberra man, the driver and sole occupant of the Holden, was treated at the scene before being transported to Mackay Base Hospital with critical injuries.

A 46-year-old Sarina man, the driver and sole occupant of the Mitsubishi, was transported to Mackay Base Hospital in a stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing.
