Police search for dog and driver after car crashes into Bentleigh house

Police are seeking public assistance to locate a pet Italian greyhound and offending driver that both fled after a car crashed into a house in Bentleigh early this morning.

A white Audi was travelling along Tucker Road when it crossed onto the wrong side of the road, crashed through a fence and into a home about 2am.

The male driver managed to free himself from the wreckage and fled the scene on foot.

When the sleeping family came downstairs to investigate what had happened, they found a car covered in bricks in their loungeroom but their 1-year-old dog Vic missing.

Police conducted patrols of the area searching for the driver and pooch however neither have yet been located.

Anyone who sees Vic is urged to contact Bayside Police Station on 8530 5100.
