Police search for scooter rider continues after South Yarra death

Homicide Squad detectives are still searching for a motor scooter rider as part of their investigation into a fatal stabbing in South Yarra last month.

CCTV footage shows the scooter rider involved in a collision with a person on Malvern Road around 11pm on Friday, 18 September.

It appears the person steps on to the road and is knocked over by the scooter.

The scooter rider stops a short distance away before driving off.

Police are still looking for the rider and appealing for them to come forward.

Investigators would like to stress that they believe the actions of the person on the road caused the collision and they do not believe the rider is at fault in any way.

Detectives also previously appealed for the driver of a van that was also shown in the footage to come forward, however he was identified by police on 3 October.

Police are also releasing further CCTV of two cyclists seen in the area at the time and may have witnessed the incident.

On 24 September a 15-year-old South Yarra boy was charged with one count of murder in relation to the stabbing of a 40-year-old Prahran man.

Anyone with information about the rider is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
