Police search for two men after South Melbourne stabbing

Southern Division Vanguard Taskforce detectives are hoping to identify two men following a stabbing in South Melbourne which left a man with critical injuries earlier this month.

It is believed a 27-year-old man was walking down Clarendon Street when he was approached by two unknown men about 9pm on Thursday, 2 July.

The pair began chasing the victim towards Emerald Hill Place before one man stabbed him to the upper body.

The men fled on foot towards Park Street, leaving the victim unconscious on the street.

The South Melbourne man was located by passers-by and police shortly after and taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

He has since been released after undergoing treatment.

Detectives have released CCTV and images of two men who they believe can assist with their enquiries.

Both men are perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, aged 18-22-years-old, with thin/medium builds.

The first man was wearing a black fur-lined puffer jacket, black pants, a black beanie and black shoes.

The second man was wearing a black Kathmandu puffer jacket, blue Adidas pants with white stripes, a black beanie and was carrying a black shoulder bag.

Investigators are keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone that may have been in the area at the time of the incident.
