Police seek assistance after sexual assault in Melbourne

Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Team detectives are investigating a sexual assault last month in Melbourne’s CBD.

Detectives have been told the female victim and her male friend were walking south along Elizabeth Street, just south of Little Bourke Street on Monday 23 August, about 1pm.

The male offender walked up behind the victim and grabbed her on the buttock.

He then continued walking and entered the public toilets located on Elizabeth Street.

Detectives have released an image of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

The man is perceived to be Caucasian, aged between 20 and 30-years-old and was wearing dark pants, dark shoes with a white trim, a dark grey hooded windcheater with ‘Lonsdale’ on the front, a red baseball cap, sunglasses, a face mask and carrying a reusable green grocery bag.

Anyone who recognises the man or anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at
