Police are appealing for public assistance as an investigation continues into an armed robbery in Sydney’s east earlier this week.
Just after 9pm on Wednesday 12 August 2026, police were called to Bondi Road, Bondi, following reports of an armed robbery at a tobacconist.
Officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command were told a staff member was threatened by an unknown man armed with a firearm – believed to be an imitation – before he stole cash and left the scene.
No injuries were reported.
A crime scene was established, and police commenced an investigation into the incident.
As inquiries continue, detectives have released CCTV footage of a man who they believe can assist with their inquiries.
The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 170cm tall and of medium build.
He is depicted wearing a black jumper, a white cap, black pants, black shoes, and gloves.
