Police seek information after home invasion in South Tamworth

Police from the state’s Western Region are appealing for information following a home invasion in South Tamworth yesterday.

About 2.25pm (Monday 10 August 2020), officers from Tamworth were called to a home on Vera Street after reports four men had forced their way inside.

On arrival officers spoke to a 40-year-old female occupant who told them the men, described only as being Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander in appearance, had forced their way into her home through the front door.

Once inside they threatened her while demanding money. The men then assaulted her 24-year-old flatmate, again demanding cash.

The woman handed the men money and they ran from the home.

Neither occupant required medical treatment.

A crime scene was established as officers examined the scene.

Police are now calling for anyone who may have information that could assist to contact them at Tamworth Police Station or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
