Police seek information after reported child approach in East Nowra

Police are appealing for information after reports of a child approach at East Nowra yesterday.

About 8.10am (Tuesday 24 November 2020), an 11-year-old girl was standing at a bus stop on Clipper Road, near the intersection of Kalandar Street, when she saw a white van parked across the road with a male sitting inside.

Police were told the girl became frightened when the man got out of the van after 5-10 minutes, walked around the bus stop and stood behind a tree; she ran home and alerted her parents.

The incident was reported to officers from South Coast Police District who commenced an investigation.

As inquiries continue, police would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist them.

The man is described as being of Aboriginal/ Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged in his 30s, 165cm – 175cm tall, of medium build, with a tattoo on his right forearm and a full black beard. He was wearing a baseball cap, beige shorts and white shoes.

Police are appealing to anyone who might have been in the area yesterday and witnessed anything, to come forward.
