Police seek information after serious crash in Glenorie

Investigators are appealing for witnesses to assist with their inquiries into a serious crash in Sydney’s north west last month.

About 12.10am on Tuesday 5 May 2020, police believe a Mazda 626 travelling west on Sermelfi Drive, Glenorie, failed to negotiate a right-hand bend, before it crossed onto the opposite side of the road and struck a power pole.

A 16-year-old male passenger suffered serious injuries and was treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being airlifted to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a critical condition.

The driver, a 20-year-old man, was taken to Westmead Hospital with minor injuries.

Officers from The Hills Police Area Command established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.

As investigations continue, anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or was in the area at the time, are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police have been told there was a vehicle that conducted a U-turn on Sermelfi Drive soon after the crash occurred and are urging the occupants of that vehicle to make contact with investigators.
