Police seek information: Break & enter and assault at Townsville

Police are appealing for information following a break and enter and serious assault of a woman in Townsville overnight.

Initial investigations indicate just after 2:30am three teenagers have entered a Stagpole Street, West End residence.

An 80-year-old woman awoke a short time later and discovered the front door was open before being struck by a metal bar on her forehead.

The woman sustained a laceration with one of the teens providing her with her mobile phone and telling her to call for an ambulance.

The teens demanded personal property from the woman but were unsuccessful so then fled the house after stealing drinks from the residence’s fridge.

The three teenagers, believed to be two boys and a girl, are described as wearing dark hooded clothing, gloves, and had their faces covered.

Investigators are appealing for anyone with CCTV, dashcam footage or may have witnessed anything in or around Stagpole Street between 2am and 3am to contact police.

The woman was transported to Townsville Hospital for treatment for a head laceration.
