Police seek information on Assault in Alice Springs 16 September

Northern Territory Police are appealing to a driver who saved a woman from being further assaulted in Alice Springs earlier this week, to contact them.

Between 9 and 10pm on Tuesday, a 34-year-old woman was walking in scrubland along Larapinta Drive when it is alleged she was physically assaulted multiple times by a man who is known to her.

The woman managed to escape the man, running onto the road where a man driving white Toyota utility stopped and collected the woman before driving her to the Alice Springs Hospital. The woman was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Inquiries continue into locating the 34-year-old male offender, as does locating the driver of the vehicle, who police believe may have information which will assist with investigations.

Senior Constable Christopher Ship said the driver of the vehicle saved the woman from further abuse.

“We would like to get a statement from the driver who essentially saved a woman from being further seriously assaulted. The driver is not in any trouble, however as with all investigations, what the driver saw and/or heard is valuable to the complete investigation,” said Snr Cstbl Ship.
