Northern Territory Police have arrested a 36-year-old man in relation to a serious harm incident in Malak overnight.
Just before 3am, police received a report that a 42-year-old woman had been assaulted outside of a residence on Fawcett Court.
Police attended and located the woman unconscious and in a serious condition with a significant head injury.
Police provided first aid until St John Ambulance arrived, and the woman was transported to Royal Darwin Hospital.
A 36-year-old man was identified as the alleged offender and arrested this morning. He remains in police custody while investigations continue.
The man and woman are believed to be known to each other.
A crime scene was established at Fawcett Court and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident remain ongoing.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area overnight, or who may have relevant CCTV, dash-cam or other footage from the vicinity of Fawcett Court, to contact police on 131 444.
