Police seek information on Vehicle Fire

Northern Territory Police are calling for information regarding a vehicle fire near Adelaide River in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A tipper truck and wood chipper were parked on the roadside on Dorat Rd on Saturday afternoon.

The owner had un-hitched the trailer as the truck had failed to restart. At some stage between midnight and 5am the truck cab area become engulfed in flame which then set fire to the surrounding scrub and grass. The owner was advised of the fire by a neighbour.

“When police arrived a grass fire had spread in various directions and continued to burn on the block and roadside. The truck cab and engine area was completely destroyed by fire,” said Acting Senior Sergeant Erica Gibson.

“We are urging anyone who witnessed the vehicles fire, or anyone who witnessed suspicious behaviour around Dorat Road, to make contact on 131 444 or report it anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at crimestoppersnt.com.au.”
