Police seek to identify persistent burglar in St Kilda East

Detectives from the Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit are hoping to identify a man following two attempted aggravated burglaries in St Kilda East last Sunday.

Investigators have been told an unknown man attended a Balaclava Road address about 1.15pm on 9 May and attempted to force entry via a bedroom door.

A 43-year-old male occupant, who was home with his child, confronted the offender who then fled the scene on foot.

A short time later, police believe the same man attempted to force entry to another residence on Goathlands Street via a back door.

He was disturbed by a 74-year-old female occupant and jumped over a neighbour’s fence in order to get away.

Investigators have today released CCTV footage and images of the man who they believe can assist with their enquiries.

The man is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, aged in his 30s, medium build, with short dark hair.

He was wearing a black jumper with a white motif on the front, grey shorts and black and white Nike runners.

Anyone who recognises the man or with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
