Police seek witness – Serious harm in Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses to a serious domestic violence assault which left a woman with spinal injuries in Alice Springs last week.

Around 9:40pm on Wednesday 8 June a group of witnesses observed a man dragging and assaulting a woman on Gap Road.

The group intervened and stopped the man from further assaulting the woman, and the man fled from the scene towards Telegraph Terrace.

Initial investigations indicate the man and woman are known to each other.

A 27-year-old woman was transported to the Alice Springs Hospital before she was medivac to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with serious spinal injuries.

A door knock of the area has been completed, and police are now seeking anyone with dash-cam or CCTV footage of the area of Gap Road and Telegraph Terrace from the period of 9pm – 10pm on Wednesday 8 June, to contact them.
