Police seek witnesses – Assault in Darwin City

Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses in relation to an alleged assault which occurred on Thursday.

The victim was walking towards the Waterfront Precinct from Mitchell Street when she observed she was being followed by male around 1:00am.

The male allegedly pushed the female down the stairs at the sky bridge and a struggle ensued on the road. As a result of the struggle both rolled down a steep embankment which knocked the man unconscious. The female left the scene and alerted emergency services. She was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital.

The male was described as Indigenous with scruffy black and grey hair and black and grey stubble on his face. He was wearing a camouflage hat and a dark coloured baggy t-shirt.

Police ask anyone with information in relation to this incident to come forward. Police are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who may have sighted the man following the woman or anyone with dash-cam footage in the area of Brown’s Mart on Smith Street.

Police have identified a suspect and enquiries are continuing.
