Police seek witnesses in Alice Springs 30 November

Police are calling for witnesses to a traffic incident in which a 34-year-old man who was wanted by police for breaching his parole, has been arrested in Alice Springs at the weekend.

Just after 10pm on Sunday, police observed a white Toyota Hilux travelling along Smith Street and indicated for the vehicle to stop.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and police initiated a pursuit.

The driver of the vehicle is alleged to have driven away at speed before being being involved in a collision on Undoolya Road.

The driver continued to ignore police directions to stop the vehicle before he and his 34-year-old male passenger fled the vehicle into surrounding scrub land on foot.

Police Dog Fitzy tracked and located a 31-year-old man, who was arrested and charged with;

• Drive Unlicensed

• Driver manger Dangerous during pursuit

• Refuse to provide blood sample.

The Drone Operations Unit, K9 Unit, motor bike patrols and members of Strike Force Viper continued to pursue the 34-year-old man another 2.5km before he was located hiding under a rocky crevice, and arrested.

He was arrested and taken to the Alice Springs Hospital for minor cuts and abrasions.
