Police seek witnesses – Structure fire in Alice Springs 1 March

Northern Territory Fire Investigators are calling for witnesses following a structure fire which destroyed a vehicle and damaged a home in Alice Springs overnight.

Around 1:20am Alice Springs Fire crews responded to multiple reports of a structure fire at a home Jennerae Drive.

On arrival fire crews found a vehicle and carport fully engulfed by fire, and smoke and flames coming from the roof of the building.

Fire fighters in breathing apparatus undertook an internal search of the property, which was unoccupied at the time and continued to conduct an internal attack of the fire.

The structure fire was successfully brought under control by fire crews by 2:30am.

The fire destroyed a vehicle parked in the carport of the home and caused extensive damage to the structure of the home.

Fire investigators are on scene and an investigation into the circumstances and cause of the fire is ongoing.

Police are appealing to anyone who was in the area of Jennerae Drive from midnight to 1:30am to contact them.

Additional to this, anyone with CCTV or dashcam from this area during this time period, is urged to contact police.
