Police seek witnesses to aggravated assault in Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses in relation to an alleged assault in Alice Springs last week.

The incident occurred on the corner of Bath Street and Parsons Street at approximately 3:00pm on Friday 22 March 2019.

It is alleged that a female was chased, pushed to the ground and stabbed by a male who is known to her. A male member of the public witnessed the assault and intervened.

Police would like to speak with the male witness to obtain further information to investigate the assault. He is described as Caucasian and was passing by on foot.

A white vehicle also reportedly stopped at the roundabout close by for an extended time. It is hoped that any occupants of this vehicle may also be able to assist. A CCTV image of the vehicle has been released in an effort to encourage potential witnesses to come forward.

The alleged victim is described as an Aboriginal female, wearing a dark grey t-shirt and black shorts. The alleged offender is describe as an Aboriginal male of heavy build, with a shaved head and grey beard. He was wearing a light grey t-shirt and black jeans.
