Westgate Highway Patrol members are investigating a two-vehicle collision in Hoppers Crossing on Anzac Day.
A white Mercedes Benz sedan and purple Honda Odyssey minivan collided at the intersection of Derrimut and Heaths roads about 10.50pm.
The driver of the Mercedes, a 43-year-old man, was taken to hospital where he is still receiving treatment for his injuries.
The four occupants of the Honda were not injured.
Police are investigating to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the collision.
