Police seek witnesses to man assaulted during protest last year

Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for information after a man was assaulted at a protest in September last year.

The victim was walking amongst protesters on Swanston Street near Franklin Street, when he was attacked at about 11.15am on Tuesday, 21 September.

The man, who grabbed the victim by the neck, was is wearing a green and grey hi-vis hoodie, dark track pants and black gloves.

Images have been released of a person police believe can assist with their enquiries in relation to this incident.

A 33-year-old Broadmeadows man was charged last year in relation to the victim allegedly being spat on during this incident. The man was charged on summons and is due to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 6 April.
