Police seek witnesses to Portland sexual assault

Sexual Crime Squad and local detectives are investigating a sexual assault which occurred in Portland on Christmas morning.

A 24-year-old woman left the Gordon Hotel on Bentick Street just after 2am.

She was seated outside the venue for some time before making her way through a nearby laneway and into the carpark behind the hotel.

The woman lost consciousness and when she came to, called Triple (000) after she discovered she had been assaulted.

Police would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have seen the woman or anyone acting suspiciously in the areas of Bentinck Street, Gore Place or the nearby car park to contact them.

They are also appealing to anyone who was driving in those areas at the time who may have dash-cam footage to check the footage and contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au if they can provide any information to assist with the investigation.
