Police seek witnesses to Ringwood Bypass incident

Police are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage following an incident in Ringwood this morning.

Investigators have been told a white Isuzu ute was travelling west on the Ringwood Bypass when it was involved in a number of collisions about 6.45am.

It is alleged the driver of the ute stopped on the bypass after being involved in a collision with a Nissan ute.

He then assaulted the driver of the Nissan and took his phone before driving off and being involved in another collision.

On the second occasion the Isuzu collided with the rear of a trailer being towed by a Ford Ranger.

Both vehicles stopped and the man again attempted to assault the driver of the Ford.

The man, a 23-year-old from Mooroolbark man, was restrained by the victim and a passer-by until police arrived.

He remains in custody and is assisting police with their enquiries.

No one was seriously injured as a result of the incidents.

Investigators are keen to speak with anyone who has dash-cam footage of an Isuzu ute in the lead up to the incidents.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dash cam footage of the ute is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
