Police seek witnesses to St Kilda sexual assault

Bayside Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Unit Team (SOCIT) detectives are investigating a sexual assault which occurred in St Kilda last month.

Investigators have been told a 25-year-old woman was working at a licensed premises in Fitzroy Street on 24 August.

The woman and offender were in the smoking area at the back of the premises about 9pm where the man began to make derogatory comments to woman before sexually assaulting her.

The victim left the outdoor area and as she returned to the main bar area the man followed her and continued to sexually assault her.

Investigators have released CCTV and a computer-generated image of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquires.

The offender is perceived to be Caucasian, about 170cm tall, aged in his mid 20s with a goatee beard and short mousey-brown hair.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a long-sleeved blue button-up shirt.
