Police seek witnesses to Whittington incident

Armed Crime Squad detectives are appealing for witnesses after an alleged firearms incident early on Monday morning.

Police located an allegedly stolen Hyundai i30 hatchback at an address on Surveyor Court just after 3.30am on 11 February.

While conducting enquiries on the vehicle the police members and two witnesses hear what sounded like a gunshot in the area.

Four people were arrested at the scene including a 43-year-old man, a 42-year-old man, a 32-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man.

All have been interviewed and released pending further enquires.

A 45-year-old Whittington man was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.

He was charged with possess a drug of dependence, handle stolen goods and possess ammunition.

He has been bailed to appear at Geelong Magistrates’ Court on 30 May.

Forensic tests are continuing in relation to the alleged gunshot.
