Police treating fire as suspicious in Brisbane, QLD

Detectives have released CCTV of a man they would like to speak with as part of investigations into a suspicious fire at Howard Smith Wharves last weekend.

Shortly before 5am on Sunday, December 21, police were called to a restaurant after reports that it was on fire.

Investigations indicate a man approached the business and used items covered in an accelerant to throw into the premises.

Emergency services attended and the fire was quickly extinguished.

The fire caused some damage to the interior of restaurant, but fortunately no structural damage.

Investigators are appealing to anyone, in particular ride share drivers, travelling around Howard Smith Wharves, Boundary/Ivory Streets, Bowen Terrace or the Story Bridge, between 4am and 5am on Sunday to contact them.

Anyone with dash cam footage or information about the man or incident is urged to contact police.

Investigations continue.
