Police treating fires as suspicious in Viewbank and Lower Plenty

Banyule Crime Investigation Unit are investigating four suspicious fires that took place on 21 November.

It is believed the fires were started sometime between 1.30am-2.50am.

The first was on Main Road in Lower Plenty followed by Edward Willis Court in Lower Plenty, the footbridge between Plenty River and Martins Lane in Viewbank and grassland on Martins Lane in Viewbank.

Prior to the first fire it is believed the offender caught a taxi from a licensed premise in Eltham on Main Road to a licensed premise on Main Road in Lower Plenty.

The offender is also believed to have walked along the Banyule Flats walking track.

Investigators have released images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
