Police update 1: Appeal for public assistance at Geham

Police investigating the death of an 18-year-old male pedestrian at Geham last night (January 23) are appealing for two male witnesses to come forward.

Investigators would like the driver of a heavy vehicle who stopped at the scene and spoke to other witnesses and the man who made enquiries in relation to the incident with staff at the Cabarlah Hotel to make contact with police.

Investigations indicate that around 8.50pm, an 18-year-old Geham man was walking along the New England Highway near the intersection with Reushle Road when he has come in contact with an unknown vehicle.

A short time later, a motorist travelling southbound on the New England Highway discovered the man deceased and contacted emergency services.

Any members of the public who witnessed the incident or have relevant dash-cam footage are urged to contact police.

Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
