Police Update 1: Homicide Investigation At Gatton

Detectives have charged a 52-year-old Gatton man in relation to an ongoing homicide investigation in Gatton.

Police will allege between 4pm and 7pm on April 25, the man entered a residence on Hood Street and assaulted the occupant, a 76-year-old Gatton man.

Investigators believe the two men were known to each other as acquaintances.

The man was located by emergency services with serious injuries and was transported to Toowoomba Hospital.

His condition deteriorated and he passed away at hospital on May 5.

Following extensive investigations by detectives, a 52-year-old Gatton man has been charged with one count each of enter dwelling with intent by break at night, deprivation of liberty, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and wilful damage.

His police bail was refused and he is due to appear before Toowoomba Magistrates Court today, May 23.

Investigations are continuing.
