Police update 1: Marine search at Sunshine Coast

The search and rescue operation for a Glass House Mountains man missing in waters off the Sunshine Coast since Sunday, November 26, has been scaled back.

The 43-year-old was reported missing by his family after he failed to return from a solo fishing trip.

Police and emergency services launched a wide-ranging surface and aerial search on Monday, November 27, involving multiple aircraft and vessels, when the man’s boat was located abandoned around two nautical miles off Comboyuro Point at the northern end of Moreton Island

Subsequent search efforts have failed to locate the skipper.

Today, Wednesday November 29, police have scaled back their operation, with officers and volunteers focusing on the foreshore along Bribie Island and eastern Moreton Island.

Sunshine Coast Water Police have praised the efforts of everyone involved in the search, and are appealing to the boating community to remain vigilant and to report any sightings or information to police immediately.
