Police update 3: Appeal for information into disappearance of Traie Olsen

Police are renewing calls for public assistance for information into the disappearance of 50-year-old Traie Olsen, missing from Toowoomba since mid-February, 2022.

Traie’s disappearance is out of character and police along with family hold grave concerns for her welfare as she has not been seen or heard from since.

She was last seen at a Bridge Street, Newtown petrol station, around 1am on Thursday February 17 refuelling her silver 2004 Mazda hatchback with Queensland registration 456DC8, which was found abandoned on a 4WD track on Gittins Road, Withcott, an area Traie did not have occasion to travel to, the following day around 9am.

Police coordinated an extensive search and rescue operation involving SES and drones in and around this area, finding a number of Traie’s personal items including toiletries.

The area is widely used by trailbike riders and residents living on nearby Stevens and Green Gully roads, with Traie’s vehicle standing out due to its unsuitability with respect to the terrain.

Detectives are appealing for residents and others who frequent this area to come forward with any sightings of Traie or her vehicle on or around Friday February 18 to come forward.

Investigators are specifically appealing to the driver of a red ute with its bonnet up, seen just before Green Gully Road around the time of Traie’s disappearance to make contact.

Traie is described as Caucasian, approximately 165cm tall with a slight build, black hair and brown eyes.

In the footage the missing woman is seen at the service station shortly after being involved in a minor traffic incident on Bridge Street, and is speaking with driver of the other vehicle involved.
