Police update 3: Woundings at Fortitude Valley, QLD

A 16-year-old boy remains in custody in Victoria after being detained on a Queensland arrest warrant for the offences of armed robbery in company and grievous bodily harm.

Detectives investigating an alleged stabbing at Fortitude Valley on July 2 plan to seek the boy’s extradition to Queensland once he has faced charges in a Victorian court later today.

Police will allege the 16-year-old was part of the group of seven males who confronted a 21-year-old Rothwell man on Constance Street before one man stabbed the 21-year-old in the abdomen, and a 17-year-old boy stole the man’s gold necklace.

Police are still appealing for Awan Awan to surrender himself to police, he is allegedly the 21-year-old primary offender involved in that incident.

He is described as having a dark complexion, dark eyes, black hair and is approximately 175cm tall with a proportionate build.

Anyone who sees Mr Awan is urged not to approach him and to contact Triple Zero (000) immediately.

Investigations are continuing in relation to two other linked wounding incidents that occurred around the same time in the Constance, Ann and Wickham Streets area. At this time police will allege that

Awan Awan was allegedly the primary offender involved in one of these two stabbings.

Detectives continue to review recorded vision of the area and appeal to the men involved to surrender to police.
