Police update: Appeal for witnesses / dashcam vision: Fatal traffic crash in Yuruga, QLD

Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam vision, in particular the movements of a White ford Mondeo bearing NSW registration prior to the crash.

It is believed the car was travelling towards Townsville and was towing a empty box trailer.

Police are investigating the circumstances of a fatal traffic crash in Yuruga yesterday evening that claimed the lives of two woman.

Emergency services were called to a serious traffic crash on the Bruce Highway near the Jourama Falls turnoff at 5pm.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a vehicle towing a trailer was travelling southbound when it has lost control and the trailer began to swerve over the road.

A car travelling northbound has collided with the vehicle and trailer causing the car to leave the road and roll over.

The two woman in the car travelling northbound, aged, 74 and 62 both from Cordelia were pronounced deceased at the scene.

A 55-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman who were in the vehicle towing the trailer were flown to Townsville Hospital with serious injuries.

Officers from the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing investigations.
