Police are investigating the armed robbery of a bank at Burleigh Waters this afternoon.

Around 3pm, police were notified of an armed robbery at a bank, located in a shopping complex on West Burleigh Road.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a man and a woman – both wearing motorcycle helmets, dark leather jackets and dark clothing – attended the front counter, both produced what appeared to be firearms and demanded cash.

The attendant complied.

The pair then ran outside to the carpark, where they fled the scene on a dark coloured motorcycle, with a yellow ‘learner’ plate displayed on the rear of the bike.

Investigations continue.
