Police update: Call for information on Fatal Crash – Holtze

Northern Territory Police continue to appeal for witnesses in a fatal pedestrian crash in Holtze on Friday evening.

The pedestrian has now been identified as a 72-year-old local woman.

Major Crash detectives are investigating and continue to appeal to motorists who travelled along Thorngate Road in Yarrawonga prior to 7.30pm who saw the pedestrian. She is described as an elderly Aboriginal woman, wearing a brightly coloured, predominantly yellow, patterned dress.

Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said “Crime Division detectives met with her family late yesterday to formally notify them of her death.

“We continue to appeal to the driver of a 4WD who was observed by oncoming motorists driving slowly through the area a short time prior to the crash. It appears the driver attempted to alert motorists to a road hazard by flashing their high beam lights. This driver is a potential witness who may be able assist investigators identify the movements of the deceased prior to the crash.

“Any witnesses who saw the pedestrian or believe they can assist with the investigation are urged to contact police on 131 444 and quote reference number 10157928.”
