Police update: Driver arrested after crashing into police car, South Australia

A driver has been arrested after a pursuit overnight in the southern suburbs.

Just before 9pm, Wednesday 20 July, patrols were following a black Nissan sedan south along Woolridge Road at Morphett Vale which was displaying false plates.

The car was seen to enter the car park of a hotel on Main South Road before colliding with the front of a police vehicle as it drove out and sped off south along Main South Road.

Patrols then pursued the car as it headed east along Wheatsheaf Road, then north onto States Road, east on Bains Road and then onto O’Sullivans Beach Road. As the car attempted to turn left from O’Sullivans Beach Road into Golf Lands Links Road the driver lost control and crashed into a concrete sleeper retaining wall.

The driver, a 24-year-old Mount Gambier woman was taken to the Flinders Medical Centre with a minor injuries and is expected to be charged with dangerous driving to escape policer, drive with imitation number plate, drive unlicenced and fail to exchange particulars after a crash. The woman also drug tested and provided a positive result to methamphetamine. She may face drug driving charges following forensic analysis of the sample. She Her suitability for bail is yet to be determined.
