Police update: Fatal crash at Newtown

A man has been charged following investigations into a single vehicle crash which claimed the life of a woman in Newtown last week.

Just after midnight on July 14, police will allege a stolen silver Holden Commodore was driving eastbound on Hursley Road when it lost control and crashed into trees near Tor Street.

The passenger, an 18-year-old Newtown woman, died at the scene.

A 19-year-old Ipswich man, was transported to Toowoomba Hospital with minor injuries and has since been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and manslaughter.

He will appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court tomorrow, July 19.

Toowoomba detectives continue their investigations into the circumstances of the crash and the Ethical Standards Command will review the matter.
