Police update: Fatal crash in Pindi Pindi, QLD

Forensic Crash Unit investigators have charged a man following a fatal three vehicle crash in Pindi Pindi on July 16.

It will be alleged around 2.35pm a white Holden utility travelling northbound on the Bruce Highway, crossed onto the opposite side of the road and collided with a black Ford utility.

Police and emergency services attended, however the driver of the Ford, a 60-year-old Oonoonba man, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A 19-year-old male passenger was airlifted to Mackay Base Hospital and treated for serious leg injuries.

The driver of the Holden, a Cannonvale man, was also transported to the Mackay Base Hospital and treated for serious leg and shoulder injuries.

A second car travelling southbound was also involved in the crash. The 47-year-old male driver of that vehicle, a Toyota SUV, was not seriously injured.

Yesterday investigators gave a notice to appear to a now 33-year-old Cannonvale man for one count each of dangerous driving causing death, dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm, possession of dangerous drug (cannabis), possession of drug utensil (pipe) and driving whilst relevant drug in his blood.

He is due to appear at the Mackay Magistrates Court on December 7.
