Police update: Homicide investigation at Springfield Lakes, QLD

Detectives have charged two men with murder following the death of man at Springfield Lakes overnight.

It will be alleged about 8.30pm yesterday two men attended an address in Springfield Lakes. One of the men forced entry to a house before punching a 20-year-old woman in the face and stealing her phone. The two men left the residence in a white utility.

It will be further alleged just after 10pm, a silver sedan began following the white ute along The Promenade.

The vehicles stopped and two men from the white ute exited and allegedly threatened a 49-year-old male passenger of the silver sedan with a firearm.

It is further alleged that one of the pair then struck the 49-year-old on the head with the firearm causing him to fall to the ground and lose consciousness.

The 20-year-old male driver of the silver sedan attempted to assist the man and was also allegedly assaulted.

The two men then fled the scene in the white ute.

Emergency services attended however the 49-year-old man was declared deceased at the scene.

Specialist police took two 19-year-old men into custody at a residence in Atlantic Street just before midnight. All four men and the woman are known to each other.

A 19-year-old Springfield Lakes man and a 19-year-old Molendinar man have both been charged with one count each of murder, common assault, enter dwelling and robbery with violence.

Both men will appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court tomorrow, October 21.
