Police update: Manslaughter charge upgrade at Labrador, QLD

A man arrested over the alleged serious assault of a 75-year-old man at Labrador earlier this month has had his charge upgraded to manslaughter.

Police will allege at around 6pm on October 6, an altercation occurred between the two men on Marine Parade.

The 75-year-old man was allegedly struck, causing him to fall and hit his head.

He was initially transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition, but yesterday passed away from his injuries.

The 50-year-old local man was initially charged with serious assault person over 60 but has since had his charge upgraded to manslaughter.

He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court today, October 20.
