Police update: Marine incident, Groper Creek

A man has been charged following investigations into a marine incident which occurred at Home Hill on February 8.

A group of men were travelling in a boat on Groper Creek when it crashed near a jetty close to Hinkson Esplanade around 5.35pm.

Two men were able to make it to safety but a third man from the boat was not found.

Police coordinated searches with water police, swift water rescue crews, a helicopter and a number of other vessels but were unable to locate the 35-year-old Home Hill man.

A 29-year-old Home Hill man has since been issued with a notice to appear for dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death.

He is scheduled to appear in the Ayr Magistrates Court on June 17.
