Police update: Officer injured at Inala, QLD

Police have charged a man after a 33-year-old male acting senior constable was seriously injured at Inala this afternoon.

It will be alleged two officers were speaking to a man in an Inala Avenue shopping centre at around 2.10pm when he picked up a pair of scissors from a nearby shop bench and swung at police.

Police will further allege the acting senior constable was stabbed in the shoulder / neck area. The second officer tasered the man, which momentarily incapacitated him, before he fled the scene.

The officer provided immediate first aid to her injured colleague before he was treated by the Queensland Ambulance Service and transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Multiple police units attended the scene, including Polair and the dog squad.

Police attended a home in Clipper Street, Inala around 3.15pm responding to a triple zero (000) call about a man allegedly armed with a shovel attempting to steal a car and threatening the occupants of a house.

It will be alleged the man threatened officers and was taken into custody after a taser was deployed.

The occupants of the house were not physically injured during the second incident.

A 29-year-old Inala man has been charged with one count each of attempted murder, trespass, enter dwelling with intent, armed robbery, attempted armed robbery and two counts of obstruct police.

He will appear in Richlands Magistrates Court on May 13.
